Integration of the Parts - Becoming Wholesome !

Published by Roger under Personal Development

In my last post I mentioned my ‘motley collection of … sub-personalities’. This post expands on the ideas I have about that and how this can help in understanding ourselves better.

So, what do I mean by the term sub-personality ? Well I mean (and I fully recognise this may not conform with any officially accepted definition) a part of me that I can identify and recognise by its needs, desires, behaviours, interests etc.

Yet we live in the same home.

Where these sub-personalities have come from I’m not altogether sure. In my case, I can see some elements from my upbringing in some of them - others are a mystery to me. But that’s not really the point of this article.

Example Sub-Personalities

If you have a critical voice in your head that sometimes puts you down, then that’s not all of you - it’s just a part of you. I would call it a sub-personality. Let’s give it a name - Christopher The Critical, for example. (I know this sounds a bit daft, but stick with me). What does he look like ? What is he wearing ?

Perhaps there’s a part of you that gets angry sometimes. Perhaps when you behave this way people have referred to you as Mr or Ms Angry. They have already identified a sub-personality for you ! What does this person look like ? What are they wearing ?

Why Are We Doing This ?

If we can identify these elements of our personality then we can examine them and find out what they want/need. Why is Christopher being critical of you ? What’s in it for him ? Who does he remind you of ?

Listening To Your Intuition

Published by Roger under Personal Development

A while ago, I wrote a post called How To Really Listen To Someone. This post is more about listening to yourself than anyone else !

Voices In My Head

Get in tune with your intuition
Get in tune with your Intuition

It seems to me that we have several voices going on inside us (I’m assuming it’s the same for all of us, not just me !). I have a critical voice in my head that sometimes likes to point out my mistakes and put me down. I have a voice that praises me for things I do and there are others with different desires, needs etc. I refer to this motley collection of ‘people’ as my sub-personalities. I realise this may not be within any accepted definition of that term, however… I am thinking of writing more about this area soon.

Today, however, I want to focus on one of those voices which, I think, is more knowledgeable, has more truth, greater understanding and which is much more useful to us, than all the others put together.

Intuition
Yes, intuition is that ‘voice’ which really knows what’s going on and what is best for us - at least, that’s what I believe. How it knows and where it gets its information from, I do not know and the best we can do is speculate. And, that’s not the most important aspect of intuition in my view. The most important aspect is finding a way to listen to that voice.

How Do You Feel About Adverts ?

Published by Roger under Uncategorized

Recently I’ve been considering placing some more adverts on the sidebar of this blog. Most blogs I read have a fair amount of advertising on them.

I have been undecided about this so I thought I’d ask you what you thought. For me the advantage of having some advertising is that I would get some financial return for the work I put into this blog and, hopefully, some readers would find products or services that they would benefit from through the adverts.

However, my purpose in having the blog is not to make money (otherwise it would be filled with adverts !!) - it is to pass on some things I have learned, promote some discussion of personal development themes and for me to be in contact with like-minded people all over the world.

So, if the majority of readers do not want any more adverts, then I won’t put any more adverts on here. Simple as that.

Here’s the poll

I’d really appreciate your honest answer. If you want to add comments, please do so below. Thanks
