Join An Appreciation Society

Published by Roger at 8:53 pm under Personal Development

After yesterday’s post about appreciation, I thought some more about this subject. There’s another aspect to appreciation that I did not cover before. It’s about awareness.I had a glass of wine with my dinner this evening and, to be honest, I can’t really remember drinking it nor what it tasted like. So, perhaps, it was rather a waste. However, if I had been a member of a wine appreciation society, I don’t think this would have happened as I would have had a greater appreciation of wine.

Appreciation Societiesclouds over the sea

I did a search on the internet for ‘appreciation society’ and found a few interesting ones

There are hundreds (maybe thousands) of others.

Why do people join (or even start) an appreciation society ? Well, my guess is that it is so they can share their passion with others and so that they can develop their understanding and awareness of the subject.

Awareness

I think that perhaps passion is the subject for a future post, so let’s concentrate on awareness. If we are interested in something then we can more easily focus our mind on it. As we focus our mind on it our awareness grows. If we share our interest with others then we can learn from them and our understanding and knowledge of that thing grows.

Some Recommended Appreciation Societies

Why don’t you start some local appreciation societies ? Some examples…

  • My Kids Appreciation Society
  • My Partner Appreciation Society
  • My Friends Appreciation Society
  • My Colleagues Appreciation Society
  • My Parents Appreciation Society

And the best one of all…

  • The Myself Appreciation Society

Imagine what life would be like if we were all members of these societies - sharing our interest, increasing our awareness and understanding. We would genuinely appreciate these people more - we would appreciate ourselves more - we would come to value ourselves more, our self-esteem and self-confidence could also take a turn for the better. Tell me one thing now that you appreciate about yourself.

    Hello H
Thanks for your comment. Does your Blakes 7 appreciation society have a web site ? If so, please feel free to leave a link to it in a comment.
